well we knew this fight was a mockery when it was made, and it lived up to it. could we be in the midst of a "Great White Hope era" as we speak? from the looks of silvas recent matchups it looks like that is what dana is up to.
what interested me was not this fight itself. but the way it was promoted. i saw comercial after comercial where silva was nothing more then a background character. it was either bonnar and joe rogan talking up the fight. or in other comercials bonnar talking to griffin. maybe they should get brock leznar to promote every ufc fight involving a foreigner or minority?
the people in the ufc are smart. they realize a non english speaking foreigner has trouble selling an event to the white american crowd that is such a cornerstone of their business. so they use popular white american personalities to cover up what is really being sold.
another white/american/english speaker(great white hope) sent out to the slaughter at the hands of a foreigner. get used to it mma fans this is the future.

lol. why frame this as a racial issue? the UFC was simply trying to brainwash the public into beliving that bonnar was a legitimate fighter who could stage an upset. he's really known only for his fight against griffin, so that's what he was doing in the ads. rogan is the ufc's pitchman, so that's why you saw so much of him. putting silva in any 153 ads would be foolish, as that would've just reminded everyone of his greatness & that bonnar had no shot in hell of getting beyond the 1st round. you're not going to sell many PPVs that way.

This fight might have been thrown. But MMA fans get really upset if you infer that those in this sport - which it is estimated that over half cheat with steroids - would ever do anything immoral like throw a fight.

Facts:
1.There are good fighters in ALL the countries, not just in the USA or Brazil, etc.
2.No way was Bonner going to win this fight an I like him.
3.Once the fight started anyone could see he wasnt going to win either.
4.He(Bonner)threw wild, crazy, non-damaging punches at Silva which was kinda comical.
5.Bonner, unfortunately hasnt really had a great fight since Griffin.
6.No way was this race related or color biased, just one great fighter against a used to be on the road to greatness fighter.
This whole fight was a waste of time, and there isn't much time left in Silva's career. Sure they needed a "headliner", but they got half of a headliner. I really don't understand this type of matchmaking. What's the point of working your way through the ranks to get considered a contender if they just give away the "headliner" fights like this?
There are Weidmans and Gustafssons and other young guns who people argue aren't known enough to have drawing power, yet the UFC puts on demonstration fights where they dust some folks off the shelf to feed to the Brazilians? It seemed more like a legends game than an actual competition that mattered. Is this what we are going to get when champs and vets get to say who they will and won't fight? They all say "I'll fight anyone", but they don't.
That was a great knee that he learned from Steven Segal. If you have my super sonic hearing (I am quarter dawg due to a mix up in a test tube) you can hear Segal shouting "do the knee, do the knee". Silva was losing the fight up to that point. I was surprised at how nervous Bonnar looked though. I mean, even when he was getting dicked by Jon Jones, he was still throwing punches, but he looked too hesitant. Silva was just standing there giving him an opportunity, and I just wanted Bonnar to commit and try to cause damage, make it a bit wild, but he just tried the Kenny Florian tactic of hugging him sheepishly against the cage with no damage.
Here's why anderson silva's the greatest and not jon jones.
1.It took jon jones 4 rounds to finish vitor belfort while anderson only needed one.
2.Jon jones couldn't finish stephan bonnar in 3 rounds, anderson finished him in 1.
3.Even while injured, anderson fought chael sonnen, got beat up for almost 5 rounds and went on to win the fight via submision at the last minutes of the fight. Then knowing that chael sonnen had the tools to beat him he fought him again in the rematch, beating him in the second round and becoming the only men to stop chael sonnen by strikes. After this chael whithout any training and probably being out of shape, with only 8 days to prepare, steped up to challenge jon jones who had already been training and getting in shape, and what did jones do? he declined the fight, scared that he might lose to sonnen, thats not how the greatest fighter should behave and thats why he's not the GOAT, Anderson Silva is.

I love Anderson, but the UFC has to stop with this Greatest Of All Time crap. Obviously they just want to hype up their organization by saying that the greatest fighter ever is one of their fighters. As always Silva is being given mediocre fighters. Yeah he's phenomenal but Joe Rogan is dead wrong; Silva is being made to look better than he is. Jon Jones fought and destroyed 5 former light heavyweight champions of whom at least 3 were still at the top of their game and ranked in the top 10 PFP. Who has Silva fought that was ever at that level????? He's made a terrific mark with his victories but he should have been in the LH division a long time ago. He's 6'2" and walks around at 215-220. He's not a MW. And then they are screaming for a match against a guy 4" shorter and naturally up to 30 pounds lighter. What the hell would that prove??? I want to see Silva fight Hua, Machida, Jones, and selected other LH's. If he beats those people who are his natural size then all the props and accolades to him. But not now and not against GSP. Why not have GSP fight Ben Henderson or Jose Aldo? Why not Jones or Silva against JDS or Cain? That would be a fight. This was a demonstration of the vast ability of an elite fighter against a guy who has built his career on toughness but not fighting skill. I love Bonnar but he has never been on anyone's radar as a highly skilled fighter; just a tough ombre.

Okay Bob Sapp is a joke that's first, you can count him as a fighter I see him as a big good for nothing oath. Rashad Evans is legit, I enjoy watching him compete same goes for Rampage though a disappointing loss to Bader. Kongo is a mediocre fighter, has plenty of loses the recent being knocked out by Hunt in the first round. He will never be a title holder we can all agree on that. Phil Davis has a lot of work to be done, got schooled by Evans. Lavar Johnson is mediocre, below Kongo. No ground game whatsoever. Than you got Overeem one of my fav's, his mom is as pale as it gets. Edward Yves nice guy, decent fighter. Who's Daniel Roberts? Guliard is on a losing streak, watched his last two fights and both times got stopped. He does mark barking than biting.
