People care about foreigners and minorities winning because people have a tendancy to want to see their own kind be successful.
the more an athlete is like you the more you are likely to become a fan of theirs. language,nationality and race are all major factors in identifying more or less with a person.
unfortunately for the UFC a major fanbase stronghold is America. and primarily white males.
so as the UFC becomes more and more dominated by foreigner and minorities you are gonna see that american white male fanbase erode.

That was a sick combination by Condit that dropped GSP.
Great fight, I'm glad GSP won. He showed a lot of heart in this fight, haven't seen him get dropped like this since the Serra fight which he lost. Take downs were spot on, a slow domination.

In France, we're buying more and more PPVs every year (live MMA still isn't legal though). I see around me people who had never heard of UFC but are now starting to watch because of the French fighters and the diversity of talent. Brazilian, Canadian, American... Lots of amazing athletes fighting these days. GSP is a beast.
Whatever it once was, the UFC is now a global sport. Who cares if the white American loses interest? The world population will more than make up that difference. Take a look at soccer. "Minorities and foreigners herpa derp derp."

A little lesson in UFC history for all you young bucks.... Check out UFC 1 and you will see that the first ever championship match did not have an American competitor. It was between a Bazilian (Royce Gracie) and a French (Gerard Gordeaux). Thats the real past of the UFC and a fight between the Spider and GSP would be an awesome reminder of UFC origins. (P.S. the Brazilian won UFC 1. GO SILVA!!!)

This was a great fight for someone coming off of a 19 month lay off due to a bad ACL tear against a killer like Condit. Georges landed good shots standing & on the ground. This was no "Lay & Pray" fight. I think some of you guys would enjoy k-1 kick boxing or pro wrestling sometimes.
